In 1922 the Mountsorrel Town Football Club found it increasingly difficult to find the necessary funds to continue fielding a team in the local leagues so they came up with the idea of contacting a famous team of the day to come and play at Mountsorrel in a charity match. Accordingly on Saturday November 11th 1922 at 3 o’clock the match took place.
The result? Rumour has it that ‘Town won 1 – 0. Do you know better?
